Giving

What is giving?

Giving is our way of saying thank you to God, a sign that we trust Him with what we've been given. Everything we have really belongs to God, we're just looking after it, and giving is one way we put that into practice for something bigger than ourselves. It might be money, time, or whatever you've got to offer, and it goes toward supporting our church, helping people in our community, and reaching further into our city and beyond.

How do we start giving?

  • Give regularly, based on what you can afford. Many people use 10% of their income as a guide (often called tithing), but there's no fixed number, if that feels like a stretch, 5% is a great place to start.

  • Give in whatever way works for you: bank transfer, text giving, or cash. We'd only suggest giving by credit card if you're able to pay it off in full each month.

  • Give with faith, trusting God with what you give, and with wisdom, staying realistic about what you can actually afford.

Why do we give?

We give because it puts God first in our lives, not something we squeeze in around everything else. It also helps us hold onto what we have a little more loosely, and grow in generosity instead of gripping tightly to money and stuff. Practically, it means we can look after our church and help take care of people who need it.
