Key Scriptures: Genesis 1-3

This session covers the beginnings of our faith, Creation and the Fall.

Looking at the Creation story, people land in different places on exactly how it happened, and that's okay. What matters most is the core truth: we're made in God's image. That means every single person has real, built-in worth, just by being human.

Genesis 3 is where things go wrong, the Fall. It's the moment that broke our relationship with God and with each other. Understanding what happened there helps explain a lot of the brokenness we still see in the world today.

Next Steps

1. Think about what it would actually mean if people truly believed they were made in God's image. How would that change things?

2. How does the idea of the Fall help explain what's going on in the world today?

Key Scriptures: John 14:16-17, Romans 8:26

This session is about the Trinity, the belief that God is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, three persons, one God. It's a big idea, and it's totally normal if it takes a while to click.

Passages like John 14:16-17 and Romans 8:26 show that the Holy Spirit lives in us and even prays for us, which means each person of the Trinity isn't distant. You can actually have a real, personal relationship with each one.

Put simply: God has always existed, doesn't change, and still wants a real, transforming relationship with you.

Next Steps

1. Try praying to the Father, Son, and Spirit by name, and notice how each one shows up differently for you.

2. Read a few of the passages about the Trinity and see what stands out to you about each person of God.

Key Scriptures: Matthew 6:5-13, Hebrews 4:12

This session is about your devotional life, the two habits that keep your faith alive day to day: reading the Bible and prayer.

We look at what the Bible actually is and how it came together. It matters because it's where we learn the truth about who God is, and it's meant to actually shape how we think and live, not just sit on a shelf.

In the prayer section, we look at why we pray, how Jesus taught us to pray, and a few different ways to pray. At the heart of it, prayer is simply how we spend time with Jesus.

1. Start reading your Bible every day. Try starting with the Gospel of Mark, or one of our C3SYD Campaign Devotionals.

2. Begin a prayer life by talking to God. Try one of the types of prayer from this session that you haven't used before.

Key Scriptures: Matthew 28:16-20; Acts 2:46; 1 Corinthians 14:14; Romans 8:26-27

This session is about what it actually looks like to be part of a church community here at C3SYD.

We build our life together around two rhythms: "temple" (our Sunday services) and "table" (Connect Groups). Our services are known for lively worship, practical Bible teaching, generosity, and making room for the Holy Spirit to move.

We believe faith isn't just something you think about, it's something you experience. We want people to genuinely encounter the Holy Spirit and feel like they belong and have a part to play, not just spectate. In our Connect Groups, we live this out through "Gather, Grow, Go."

Some of the ways this shows up: being baptised in the Holy Spirit, and operating in spiritual gifts like speaking in tongues and prophecy. We also expect to see God's power at work through healing and other miracles as the gospel is shared (Mark 16:20).

Next Steps

1. Get fully involved in worship, prayer nights, and other church activities, this is where you'll actually experience the Holy Spirit at work.

2. Join a Connect Group or a Team to really get embedded in community at C3SYD.

3. Start exploring spiritual gifts like tongues and prophecy with your Connect Group leader.

Key Scriptures: Jeremiah 31:31-34, Romans 10:9

This session is about what it means to make Jesus not just your Saviour, but the Lord of your whole life, in charge, not just invited in.

For a lot of people, following Jesus starts with knowing him as Saviour, someone who rescues you, and that's a huge and important start. But knowing him fully also means recognising he gets a say in everything, not just the "spiritual" parts of life.

We'll look at what the Bible says about Jesus being Lord over everything, and talk through practically what it looks like to hand over control of your life to him.

Next Steps

1. Spend some time reading Romans 10:9 and thinking honestly about what it would look like to let Jesus have more say in your life. Are there areas you're still holding back?

2. Start (or keep building) a regular habit of prayer, one where you're genuinely asking God for direction, not just talking at Him.
